#BestOfSeason: Bucks Escape MSG On The Back Of Giannis’ Buzzer-Beating Game-Winner

#BestOfSeason: Bucks Escape MSG On The Back Of Giannis’ Buzzer-Beating Game-Winner News

Through the first couple of months of the 2016-17 regular season, Giannis Antetokounmpo had become the front-runner, in fact, the only contender for the award of Most Improved Player. Leading his team from the front, the Greek Freak led the team to a 15-15 record at New Years despite missing a key starter in Khris Middleton.

The Bucks won two of their first three games in 2017 and were looking to build some momentum with another win against the Knicks in New York. The Knicks weren’t that far behind the Bucks, having a record of 16-18 prior to this matchup and they were eager to snap their then season-low five-game losing streak.

Three-quarters into the game and things weren’t looking to so good for the visitors with the Knicks holding an 87-73 lead. But the Bucks didn’t fold and within the first two minutes of the fourth quarter cut the lead to just six on the back of an 8-0 run. When Antetokounmpo re-entered the game with seven minutes left, the Knicks were holding onto a slim three-point lead. And that’s when the “Greek Freak” took over.

Giannis scored 12 of his 27 points in the final period, including a clutch buzzer-beater to clinch the game for the Bucks. He also grabbed 13 rebounds, dished out 4 assists and swatted 3 shots. The game-winning shot extended the team’s win streak to three and handed the Knicks their season-worst sixth straight loss.

More importantly, the Bucks came away with the win despite the Knicks’ All-Star Carmelo Anthony having one of his best games of the season with 30 points, 11 rebounds, and 7 assists.
