Curry-Klay Take Down OKC In Chippy Game; Harden Game-Winner Sinks Nuggets News

Golden State Warriors 111-95 Oklahoma City Thunder

Stephen Curry (23 points) and Klay Thompson (34 points) combined for 14 three-pointers between themselves as the Golden State Warriors took down the Thunder on the road. There were plenty of technical fouls and chippy moments in the game, but the Warriors came through thanks to their superior shooting (48.2% FG, 45.5% 3FG).

The Warriors defense was on point as well, limiting Thunder’s main attacking outlet in Russell Westbrook to 15 points for 25% shooting from the field. The home team’s three-point shooting just did not click, with Oklahoma making only 4-of-21 from beyond the arc in the loss.

Denver Nuggets 124-125 Houston Rockets

Three Denver players made it to 20+ points, but James Harden’s near TD and game-winning layup with 2.4 seconds on the clock helped the Rockets hit another W at the Toyota Center in Houston. The Nuggets saw Nikola Jokic post 22 points, 13 rebounds and 8 assists, Gary Harris drop 28 points and Will Barton chip in with 24 points. But the Rockets, gathered behind MVP candidate Harden, to shoot 50.6% from the field and 44.7% from beyond the arc.

The Nuggets conceded the ball 21 times, but had a better shooting percentage from the field (51.2% FG). Basically, on a day when both teams were on almost level terms, the difference turned out to be one James Harden. The Beard made yet another strong push for his MVP candidature with 39 points, 7 rebounds, 11 assists and 4 steals.
